How can I clean the charging port on my iPad?

I’m having problems charging my iPad 3.

Very carefully.


But seriously, under a bright light, with a magnifier if you have one, use a non-conductive tool like a wooden toothpick to carefully remove anything you find in there. Stuff gets wedged all the way in the back from the cable being plugged it so you may have to spend some time. Compressed air is not recommended and is also pretty useless for the cruft that gets wedged in there.
