I connect my m1 MacBook Air to a LG 32un880 monitor via usbc and the supplied lg cable. This has worked well until the latest security update. Now my monitor cannot connect at all. Any ideas to address this?

The issue was resolved by doing a hard reset of the monitor. Now it just works :) !

I understand that you do not want to use HDMI, I only mentioned it as a potential test and workaround.
I wonder if the LG software is needed at all, and if it some incompatibility it may have with the newer OS may be at play. You could try uninstalling it altogether. I don't think that it is necessary, and in any case it can be reinstalled later.
Did it ever use third party DisplayLink software to connect? I am guessing no, but if it did, then that software might need to be updated.
Also, I see that this display also has HDMI; would that work? (I know it's a nuisance since the Air does not have an HDMI port, thus requiring an adapter; just trying to cover some more possibilities).
Does your mac detect the display in System Settings->Displays?
I don’t want to use hdmi as my keyboard also connects via monitor. I’ve tried latest software from lg, but that fails to detect monitor when it is connected and hangs when the monitor isn’t connected and then is connected - unplug and plug cable.
