My annotations made using PREVIEW .pdf document were not saved but one. REVERTING shows that has not saved any annotations in any of document saved versions.
Is there a way to retrieve my annotations?

If the no saved versions....
You can try Going further back in Time Machine...
restore items backed up with Time Machine

I would use a true PDF editor for PDF's... there are many, here are a few examples:
Acrobat Reader / Adobe Acrobat DC
PDFpen / Nitro
pdfExpert
