How do I stop Apple Music from launching whenever I connect a Bluetooth headset to my MacBook?

As of this morning it is still an issue, I'm up-to-date with Sonoma 14.2.1 (23C71).

I’m having this issue on my Acura. I might be playing something else and Apple Music just overrides this and starts playing.

Somehow it's triggering the play command. Even with Music quit, when I click my Airpod Pro 2nd gen it launches music. So I'm narrowing down to the play command.

This is affecting my ears!!!! This is going ti make me go deaf!!! Please apple!! Do something

I fully agree. It is absurd to use this hack to prevent Music from popping up. By the way, this also happens on my iPhone, not only with Music but also with the Spotify App.

I'm using the M3 Macbook Pro but not finding that setting. Am I missing something?

Ugh how frustrating. Almost enough to justify switching to PC.
