My ICS calendar is not working due to insecured connexion

Hello,

I am developing an ICS calendar and I have some issues adding it to the iPhone calendar, it is saying that my link is not secured and asks me if I want to continue when I say yes, it doesn't work.

My link is secured with HTTPS and TLS 1.2.

I tried on a different iPhone and it is the same error.

I'm sure the link was ok previously, so I would like to know, for example, if iPhone required TLS 1.3 ?

Thank you very much!

Hello,

If your link is secured with HTTPS and TLS 1.2, it should generally be compatible with most modern devices, including iPhones. However, there could be other factors causing the issue with adding your ICS calendar to the iPhone. Here are some possible reasons and troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check SSL Certificate: While TLS 1.2 is supported, ensure that your SSL certificate is valid and issued by a trusted certificate authority. If there are any certificate-related issues, it might cause problems with accessing the link on the iPhone.
  2. Verify Link Format: Double-check the format of the link you are using to add the ICS calendar to the iPhone. Make sure it is a valid and well-formed URL. Test the link on a computer or other devices to confirm its accessibility.
  3. Check Date and Time Settings: Incorrect date and time settings on the iPhone can sometimes lead to security-related errors. Verify that the date and time on your iPhone are accurate and set to the correct time zone.
  4. Try Another Calendar App: Test adding the ICS calendar link to a different calendar app on your iPhone. This will help determine if the issue is specific to the default calendar app or related to the link itself.
  5. Check Firewall or Network Restrictions: If your iPhone is connected to a corporate or restricted network, there might be firewall or network restrictions that prevent access to certain URLs. Test the link on a different network or using cellular data to see if the issue persists.
  6. Clear Cache: Clear the cache and cookies on your iPhone to ensure that any cached data related to the link is not causing the problem.
  7. Update iOS: Ensure that your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. Outdated software can sometimes lead to compatibility issues.
  8. Test on Different Devices: Apart from testing on different iPhones, try accessing the link on other devices like Android smartphones, computers, or tablets to see if the issue is specific to iPhones.

To answer your specific question, while iOS devices like iPhones support TLS 1.2, they should not require TLS 1.3 to access secure links. TLS 1.2 is widely used and accepted in modern web and mobile applications.

If you have tried the above steps and the issue persists, it might be helpful to inspect the error message or logs on your server to see if there are any specific error codes or messages indicating the reason for the failure. You can also reach out to Apple Support or the developer community for further assistance on this matter.

I hope these suggestions help you identify and resolve the issue with adding your ICS calendar to the iPhone.

If you're experiencing issues adding an ICS calendar to your iPhone and you're encountering security warnings, it's likely because the calendar link is not using a secure connection (HTTPS) or the server hosting the calendar does not have a valid SSL certificate. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Ensure that the calendar link you're using begins with "https://" rather than "http://". The "s" indicates a secure connection. If your link doesn't have "https://", try finding an alternative source or contact the calendar provider for assistance.
  2. If you're hosting the calendar on your own server, make sure you have a valid SSL certificate installed. This ensures a secure connection between the server and the device. You may need to obtain an SSL certificate from a trusted certificate authority (CA) and configure it on your server.
  3. Open the calendar link in a web browser on your iPhone or a computer and see if you receive any security warnings or errors. If there are any issues, it's likely that the problem lies with the calendar server or configuration.

If you're using a third-party calendar provider, reach out to their support team for assistance. They can provide guidance specific to their service and help troubleshoot any issues you're facing.

Hello,

Thank's for your reply, look's like I respect the 3 advice you mentionned.

A test link wich doesn't work : https://demo.oplead.com/Planning/CalendarIcs?s=g1mslekui8pShmO1LFDKoGHuIUkoikhZ6pDfZn3PJEfQnMh2veqKlg%3D%3D yourherbs.ru

Link is https, certificate is ok, browser is ok, works in google agenda, but my iphone don't want it.

Thank's !

Try adding the calendar using the iCloud app. The iCloud app may be able to add the calendar even if the iPhone's built-in calendar app cannot.
