I accidentally started a download of music on my i cloud and now I am stuck with a free trial subscription rabbit hole that will not let me quit the apple music logo on my dock

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.12

Have you try this:

Click Apple Logo (top right) then Force Quit -> select Apple Music -> click Force Quit ?
