Prior to iOS 15.2, some temperature and precipitation map data was provided by the Weather channel. Afterward, it is simply Apple Weather and next-hour precipitation forecasts and precipitation notifications are available for Australia, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The information is provided by Apple using data from national weather services — but Apple does not clarify which services. Just trust our Apple weather information — which is typically wrong for your location.
So the weather you now see on iOS 16, iPadOS 16, or macOS likely has nothing to do with the Weather Channel and thus the contradiction.
I got tired of erroneous Apple weather data and put the National Weather Service (U.S.) web app on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. It gets weather data from the 5-mile distant NWS airport reporting station.
