"Add to Wallet" isn't working for Boarding Passes

I'm unable to load boarding passes to Apple Wallet. When I click on the "Add to Apple Wallet" link, it creates a file to download. I click on the file and I'm offered some apps to open the download but Apple Wallet isn't one of them. This happened with two different airlines. I restarted my phone and tried again but still not working.

Thank you. I tried your suggestions but no change. I then tried using Safari to open the boarding passes (I had been using Chrome). It worked with Safari.

  1. Open the app, email, notification, or other communication that contains your boarding pass, ticket, or other pass.
  2. Tap Add to Apple Wallet.
  3. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  4. If necessary, tap Add in the upper right corner."

Also, please make sure that you are running the latest version of iOS.

While it isn't inherently assured that an update will resolve the issue, updating to the latest software version for your device can help isolate potential software issues.

If you are still unable to add your boarding pass, please contact the merchant or company that issued your boarding pass to make sure they support passes in the Wallet app.
