PDF/X-3 blurry? (in preview)

Hi, I am formatting a pdf file for print in CMYK. The printer suggests saving a pdf as a pdfx1-a 2001, but I do not see this as an option anywhere in preview. After some research it seems as though PDF/X-3 will work for this, so I saved a copy that way, but it appears very low quality and blurry. Is this normal? Should I use a different software? Thanks.

Converting RGB to CMYK, display options I'm converting RGB to CMYK using the ColorSync application. I've checked & doubled checked I'm doing it correctly; opening the image in ColorSync - match to profile - generic CMYK - Intent; relative colorimetric - apply & then save as, which gives me a CMYK version of the image. However I can't see any difference when viewing the image on the screen. Is there a way to change display settings (if that is correct) to be able to view the difference. I'm getting something ready for print. Thanks.

Unable to save PDF's on HP Smart & Can't Scan from Adobe Hi All, Recently started using the MacBook Air 2020 model M1 chip again and upgraded to Mac OS Ventura quite recently. I have an HP Color Laser Jet Pro M283 I have been unable to as of late, to save any scanned document via HP Smart App locally - The option to save to files / PDF is just not there. If I try save it as Jpeg, it give the option to save this (Which defeats the purpose) I have also tried scanning in from Adobe Pro (Create PDF from Scanner), however, every single scan it errors out either with selected color format is not supported of incorrect file type. I have reset my MacBook Completely (Complete wipe), uninstalled and re-installed the HP Smart App and downloaded printer drivers and nothing seems to work. Is there a compatibility issue between HP Smart and MacOS Ventura / PDF's? The ONLY workaround that I could find, was going to system, printers and scanners, open scanner and scan from there and select where to save to, which just isn't feasible in the long wrong Any advice? Scanning with Preview using a new Brother MFC-J6995DW results in low quality scan results I have an issue with Preview when scanning. Image Capture isn't much better. Preview is my goto scanning software. The quality of scans was fine when using my old MFC6490CW A3 scanner/printer. When the printer finally ceased to work last week, I replaced it yesterday with a Brother MFC-J6955DW A3 scanner/printer. The problem now is that when scanning at any resolution on the new printer/scanner, all the scans are very low quality. It's like every image is converted to very low quality jpg before being displayed as a png, tiff or PDF. I'm using an M2 Max Mac Studio. Whatever resolution is selected, the images are highly compressed. There should be no compression at all. Preview also crashes on selecting Image Correction > Manual, so there are no manual image correction tools available in Preview anymore. This was the case with the old printer/scanner, but was never a problem with my old 2012 iMac. It's only a problem with the M2 Max Mac Studio. Fixing the quality of the scans is the priority for me. I don't want to have to return the new printer scanner and I have disposed of the old printer/scanner. If anyone knows how to get Preview working properly with the scanner, I'll be very grateful. Also, I am going to try printing it on my personal printer to see if it actually prints blurry.
