FYI: SIM Security for iPhone

While planning for a trip outside of my home country, I became concerned about loss or theft of my iPhone. In today's world, a smartphone phone number is often used to access important services like banking. Unauthorized use of the physical SIM card (e.g. in another smartphone) can lead to identity theft.

One precaution worth considering is setting a PIN code for the SIM. iOS on the iPhone will prompt for the PIN when the device is turned-on or when the SIM is removed and re-inserted.
