UPS with iMac 24 M1 battery always @ 0%

Just a quick update on this, still waiting for a response from Tripp-`lite.

However, your suggestion did prompt me to contact another uk supplier "BPC".

Their tech support guys said he did know that they were working on a firmware update for their products and would email what the progress on this was and if possible send me a firmware update, for if I should decide to buy one.

So it seems that probably some UPS units will not function fully with the latest, Ventura 13.4.1(c) macOS and as AppleCare suggested probably due to firmware on the UPS concerned. So I guess I should have asked first !

Thanks for all of your input. have now spoken to apple care by chat again, this time took 45 mins to get an escalation to a senior advisor.

They listened and then said that they cannot recommend any product in particular for the silicon Macs at this time.

So I asked they they escalate to their engineering team to ask if they can supply evidence that the ups software in settings does work and with which UPS they tested it with, or did they adapt the software from older macOS ?

I have seen video of this working with big Sur, for example using the older "preferences" so I am sure that there is nothing new that is required now from a UPS and so they all should work as expected.

So Guess this the end of the line for me, unless someone has an M1 Mac running, Ventura 13.4.1(c) with a UPS were the Mac UPS options work fully, including the battery level indicator.

Perhaps as I had expected the seller says that there is no updates for the ups and to contact Apple !

So I have requested a full refund, since if the the machine can't decide when to shutdown, since it can't read the UPS battery capacity or vent know when it switches to battery, then it cannot protect as it is supposed to do.

Since this happened I have been trying to find information about how to know if a particular UPS will work with the silicon Macs as the apple info suggests that they should. So far every response from sellers has been that they don't know/ can't guarantee if their UPS will be compatible or not.

So I am bit confused now as all info regarding UPS and Macs seem to just assume that any UPS will work with any mac and any clips are more than 4 years old that I found for Macs.

Is there something I need to look for in specs , clearly "macOS" alone is not enough assuming that it is even mentioned?

So to clarify, first try - I used the ups supplied cable with an adapter since no usb-A ports on iMac 24 then for the

second try I used a new tab-b to usb-c. no difference at all.

Apple care did not mention anything about using particular cables

So are you using macOS 13.4.1(c) with the UPS and does it show the true

UPS battery capacity in the OS menu bar or under the system settings>>energy saver >> UPS options.

All of those menus/options work on mine but no reaction when switched to battery mode (mains OFF) this is the problem.

Do you mean an "APPLE" cable ? if yes then I will ask them, I did buy a new usb-B to usb-C cable as

I was using a usb-A to usb-C adapter at first.
