I lost my Apple ID password

In changing passwords I missed a step I guess. I’m locked out for to many attempts. The issue is the phone number listed is long gone. I never updated. My fault.

So Im in catch 22. Can’t get one without the other.

Its a Gmail address so I’d hoped they could help. Wrong.

Any idea or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

If you find you can’t sign in, reset your password, or receive verification codes, you can request account recovery (go to this document: How to use account recovery when you can’t reset your Apple ID password - Apple Support ) to regain access to your account. Account recovery might take a few days or longer, depending on the specific account information you can provide to verify your identity.

No, account recovery is for when you can't get a code. It is exactly for your situation. The only problem is Apple's documentation isn't clear as to how you start it. I have never needed it (or even forgotten a password) so I have not encountered the menu. I suspect in small lettering it has alternatives to doing the standard password recovery.

Thanks. But that solution requires sending a code to a phone number. The phone number Apple has on file for me is a number I no longer have access to.

To change my password, they need a phone number.

to change a phone number that need a password.

Apple was a bad choice. I must be the only person on earth, ever. That has faced this issue.
