Excel formula not working in Numbers

A friend in a diet group shared an excel spreadsheet based on the CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet which has columns with meat & protein or bread & cereal then beside you enter how many units you consumed. Then there is another set up beside it which should be a total for the day with consumed, allowance and remaining

The formula that was shared from the excel spreadsheet is not working perhaps because it does not recognise the written words ?

For the Consumed cell, it is telling me: "the array formula couldn't be imported and was replaced by the last calculated value. Original formula: =SUM(IF(B4:B27="Meat & Protein",C4:C27,0))

While Numbers can accept, translate and calculate many MS Excel functions and the formulas using those functions, it does not support the majority of Excel's Array formulas. Many individual Array formulas can be replaced with a set of 'regular' formulas, but doing so is a task for the user, and requires knowledge and an understanding of what the original formula is expected to accomplish, and enough familiarity with Numbers functions and formulas to accomplish the same results.

You might try using Libra Office, built to provide greater compatibility with Excel. This application is free to download and to use. https://www.libreoffice.org/
