Is there a way to add additional data, like "Starring", "Screenwriter" to movies that I've downloaded from disc? I seem to only be able to add Director and a few other things using the "get Info" command. Even then, Director doesn't show up

You can add meta data tags with such information to your own media files, using a third party tool, like Subler. After tag editing, remove and re-add the file(s) to your library for updated library presentation. ‘Director’, ‘Cast’ and ‘Screenwriters’ are supported tags there. Subler supports more tags than the Apple TV app is able to show back, and not all available tags are relevant to video files (some tags are more for other types of media files). Subler has integration with online look-up, so for select content, you might be able to use tags that other people have already submitted. Edit manually as needed. For release date, if added, using the ISO notation YYYY-MM-DD, so that other applications can easily understand it. Note that Media Kind: Home Video will show less of the tags in the TV app than Media Kind: Movie.

What the TV app (and iTunes before it) shows as sᴛᴀʀʀɪɴɢ, is from the Cast tag (as in actors) in Subler. That should help you find it.

I'll be giving it try later tonight with a few files. Will be happy (but busy) if it works as expected. Especially interested in adding the "Starring" tag to my files, but will play around and determine what works well and is worth the effort for me.

Got it. I was having trouble getting them on separate lines for a bit. Drew a blank on comma delineated data and tried all kinds of key combinations with return. Then got it to work well and actually now usually use the import from Apple TV, which adds it all!
