How to Update AirPod 2nd Generation with iPhone

If AirPod is software based then Apple should give option inside the settings for update. should be automatic but there should be an option to do it manually also. Because sometimes many people don't keep pod and phone in the same place, there is no bluetooth connectivity, then pods are not updated, many such problems come and update never happens. I have been trying to update my pods since two days but automatic updating is not happening. it’s big problem.
