I have a dual display set up (two macs linked by thunder cable) when I set screen savers on both macs only one screen saver works. only the main imac screen saver workss

Updates are not likely, because Apple no longer supports using an iMac as a second display in Target Display Mode.
If you want to try an active desktop and screensaver that spans across dual displays, give Sharks 3D or Sandy Beach 3D from the App Store a try.
