Pictures not posting in shared album

Pictures I’ve posted recently in my shared album are showing locally on my device but not on others. I don’t want to reset my shared album settings and lose all my pictures. Any advice?

If pictures you've recently posted in your shared album on your iPhone are showing locally on your device but not on others, there could be a few possible reasons for this issue. Here are some common factors that may be causing the problem:

  1. Invitation Status: Confirm whether others have accepted the shared album invitation. If they haven't accepted the invitation or if they have declined it, they won't be able to view the pictures you've shared. To check the invitation status, go to the shared album settings on your iPhone and look for a list of participants. If you see their names with a pending status or if they're not listed at all, they may not have accepted the invitation.
  2. Network Connectivity: Ensure that both your device and the devices of others are connected to the internet, preferably via Wi-Fi or cellular data. The shared album content requires an internet connection to sync and display properly on all devices.
  3. iCloud Photo Sharing Settings: Check your iCloud Photo Sharing settings on your iPhone to verify that the shared album is properly configured. Go to "Settings" > "Photos" > "Shared Albums" and make sure that "Shared Albums" is enabled. Also, ensure that the specific shared album with the pictures you want to share is turned on.
  4. Syncing Delays: Sometimes, there may be a delay in syncing the pictures across all devices. Give it some time and check again later to see if the pictures appear on other devices.

If you have confirmed that others have accepted the shared album invitation and are still experiencing issues, it might be helpful to have them check their settings and troubleshoot their iCloud Photo Sharing configuration as well.

SOLUTION!!! Well, I can say that my ~15,000 photos are now actually shared to my family members and to my other devices as well--- making me more of an expert that anyone at Apple. Thing is, all I can do is tell you what I did-- and it wasn't hard albeit not seamless.

  1. Of course you do all the things they tell you to do like properly sharing... but
  2. I had more photos than the maximum number of photos for a shared album. Somewhere I stumbled across a statement that a shared album can only have 5000 photos, so I broke my album in to multiple. This DID NOT WORK in itself but I left it that way, so that's one thing I changed. Most of you have <5000 photos so this one is irrelevant.
  3. I made sure to connect to wifi AND be plugged in at the same time. (I usually run on battery all day and charge with the radios off at night, so those two things are almost never true for me.) I imagine they don't do all the synchronizing on battery because of power drain though I didn't see this mentioned anywhere. There were a couple mentions that it is "better to be on wifi", and I suspect that might have some kind of throttle, or even a limit they send over cellular.
  4. I made sure my recipients did #2 as well. By that next morning, they had them all.

Note that all devices are independent. I just left my device with the pics on wifi and plugged in to get the cloud updated which made sure everything was available to other devices. Then at anytime, the other device does the same and they get there.

By the way, the AI training takes additional time. Training appears to happen over many hours out in the cloud (not on your device), so you won't be able to search for all your "cat" pictures until more time has passed. I suspect this is a variable delay as they probably train on your pictures as a lower priority than whatever else they have those computers doing during peak hours.

Thank you. Yes, I read it and to me it just worked in batches of 1000 pictures at least 24 hours apart. Sometimes, it wouldn't take the 1000 photos, lets says I copy and paste 1000 but then it only shows "800". When that happened I had to delete the 800 photos and then copy and past again until it took the whole 1000. It is annoying to say the least. Seems like because it is a "free service", or a "favor" in other words, we just have to get creative and patient until all the stars align and somehow it finally works.

This is absolutely a bug. Spoke to support today who screenshared my settings on my devices and all is set up correctly. Some pictures go in, but 90% don't. An icloud bug that needs to be fixed. All happened because apple doesn't let you have more than one watch per apple ID, so I had to create a whole new apple ID for my phone so now all our pictures no longer sync.

I had an issue creating new shared albums and then it would just disappear or not even appear. After following instructions to turn off/on shared album in settings it still DID NOT work. It wasn't until I went to my shared album thinking what if i deleted an album and I saw the plus icon show up in the top left corner and tried to ADD a shared album but it prompted me that "CANNOT CREATE SHARED ALBUM, YOU CAN ONLY HAVE 200 SHARED ALBUMS. DELETE AN EXISTING ONE AND TRY AGAIN" - I'm in the process of deleting old shared albums and hoping this will help solve our issues. Good luck!

to know that 200 is the cap for shared albums but APPLE is smarter than us. ;)

I’ve had Apple tech team (so I’m informed) working on this for me since 10/8 earlier 1/8 but on 10th they creative a profile and took screenshots and videos of my iPad to see what is happening to my cloud and iPad. None of my shared albums will appear on my new iPad. I have the titles of those but no photos and any new albums appear on my phone hit do not pull across to my shared albums on my iPad. This is definitely a bug but when you speak to the support team they act like it is unique to me.

I know an iPad does so much more but I wanted it for this purpose mainly to share photos while travelling
