What are badges

I am learning the many wonderful and endless, it seems, things that I can do with my IPhone SE20.

Badges, for instance.

I got here via siri.

This is not an important issue but I just feel out of my depth.

Badges are indicators on apps in the upper right corner that would tell you things like:

Number of new Messages
Missed phone calls
Unread emails
Update available

No problem. Also any apps downloaded from the App Store can uses badges for any purpose that makes sense for them. I agree that the Tips app is very useful for features that are unfamiliar as well as new features that you may find after a software update. If you find the badges not helpful for a particular app, they can be removed in the Notifications setting.
