Help Displaying 2019 i7 Macbook Pro to Samsung Odyssey G9

I'm trying to use an Odyssey G9 as an external monitor for my 2019 i7 MacBook Pro using the USB C to DisplayPort cable that's been widely recommended, but I'm having trouble getting ther G9 to display anything. When I plug the cable into the MacBook, the G9 detects the connection and the screen wakes, but falls black again. I was running MacOS Catalina and did temporarily get it to display, but only immediately after restarting the Mac. I since upgraded to MacOS Big Sur, and can't get any display at all.

I've looked everywhere online and haven't found a solution. Any help or recommendation would be appreciated.

Uh, hello, realalextejada( hope I spelled that correctly) … first, you should only make/break/change a connection to the monitor ( in this case, the Odyssey G9, when both source ( MacBook Pro) and monitor are turned off/shut down.. usb-c to whatever is

not hot-swappable…. You could try, seeing as you have an Intel Mac, to do a reset smc/pmu followed by 4 pram zaps on startup… if you Don’t have one, then that stuff won’t work… remember the first part, that’s important… also, if you hold down the “Option” key after you go to system prefs> then choose display(s) while holding down the “Option” key, you should see more choices there, eg native, scaled for display, etc… and don’t pick a frequency greater than 60hz… would this one be your MacBook Pro ? MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) - Technical Specifications (CA)

If nothing helps ?? Might be bad usb-c to DisplayPort cable, should support at least DisplayPort 1.2 or better and be HDCP 2.2 compliant… as for the widely recommended cable, I’ll go with what you ( and others ) have said, I don’t know the cable in question, and I’ve been flooded out of my place, so all I have to use right now is this iPhone, and that’s it
