Install a Mustek Scanner to Ventura

I am trying to resurrect a Mustek A3 page express 1200pro scanner, but none of the Mustek drivers have been updated beyond OS 10.2

I purchased a USB-C to USB-B cable, to eliminate the need for a USB adaptor, and my MacBook recognises that a scanner is connected if I check out the System Report, under USB (Though it believes it is a Hewlett Packard scanner...). But if I try to add a scanner/printer in the System Settings, it is not appearing.

Is there anyway I can get the scanner and MacBook to speak to each other?

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 13.5

VueScan does not show that explicit named Mustek scanner as supported, though it may support it with the Mustek ScanExpress A3 support.

That USB-C to USB-B connector to the scanner may be electrically confusing macOS and perhaps trying a USB-C to USB-A dongle with the original USB-B to USB-A Mustek cable, or Apple's USB-C to USB-A cable may allow macOS to detect the scanner. At least the trial of VueScan Professional is free if the previous cabling works at all.

Otherwise, you can purchase ($89 USD) a new Canon LiDE 400 scanner that is supported by VueScan Professional
