Mail app draining battery in background

Even though no account is added in the default Mail app, still it is draining battery in the background 22h in a period of 24 hours. In settings there is no option available to disable background app refresh.

is this a common issue?

iOS 16.0.2 weird battery drain from Mail and Calendar apps Got the new iPhone 14 pro and after a few days I noticed very bad battery drain. Battery Usage showed that Mail and Calendar had hours of background activity. I tried to remove the gmail account associated with the apps, but no improvement whatsoever. Then I deleted them from the device and they still appear to have background activity as “recently deleted apps”. Attached screenshots. The apps have been deleted at 16:00 local time. The only time when the apps didn’t show background activity was during the night while sleep focus was active. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!
