I have a "battery health significantly degrade" message in my battery settings section but the maximum capacity says 82. The phone does drain fast when I use the White Noise app but otherwise the life is not terrible.
I'm wondering if I should heed the advice because the end is probably near or believe the 82 and stick with the phone a while longer. The SE is 3 years old.

Are you planning on keeping the phone for at least another year? If so, get the battery replaced. It will feel like a new phone. If you're just holding on until the next round of iPhones is released, I wouldn't bother.
The iPhone will still be usable below 80% but the battery life won’t be great.
