There have been many reports of severe issues with 10.6.7, in Apple Silicon macs.

If you have a copy of 10.6.6 (perhaps in a Time Machine backup), you may consider restoring that.

Libraries that have been updated for 10.6.7 will not open, but you can use 10.6.7 and export an XML file, and open that in 10.6.6.

Your system drive is full. Like to the point it can't function properly. You need a minimum of 15% percent or 20% on a system drive as free space.

You should get rid of Chrome and the google.keystone daemons that run continuously.

P.S. Get a Time Machine drive or some kind of backup.

This is bad news on pro apps systems. I would rebuild the system, migrating only users, and reinstalling apps and not this.

Did you restore anything, like from a TimeMachine backup? Did you install any Audio plugins?

These iOSScreenCaptureAssistant crashes seem to be reported more. An internet search on this shows others have noticed the relationship but I can't find anything definitive. Too bad fcpdotco is gone, I bet joema would have some insight.

Sure, here is what I did:

1. Shutdown
2. Hold power button 10 seconds
3. Disk Utility => Macintosh HD => Erase => I had to confirm it 3 times
4. Closed Disk Utility
5. Clicked Install Ventura
6. Software Update => Sonoma 14.2 => Reboot
7. Install FCP
8. No backup restore

Can you explain exactly step-by-step how you reformatted and installed the OS?

You have two stuck items and a kennel task running.

Can you give details of the media and the project and exactly what happens? Can you try a new admin user without any other active components?

There have been a lot of problems with 10.7, but you seem to have something that has been carried over from previous versions and outside what others are seeing currently.

Also, +1 on getting some kind of backup. Time Machine is easy.

At first I deleted 200GB and rebooted, which improved it. It took about half an hour to beachball for the first time.

Then I deleted Chrome and its daemons, also ~/Library/Cache and Preferences. After rebooting, I edited for 2 hours without problems.

Today, I saw one beachball (after a while) but it was acceptable. FWIW, the attached report was made when FCP froze today.

Thank you for your help. I switched to Brave, but no full disk backup yet :)

Today FCP is freezing, so far 6 times in a row. I'm including the report and two screenshots showing FCP (not responding).

Please let me know if I can provide better info for debugging this.

I updated today (12/12/23) to macOS 14.2 and although there are no more iOSScreenCaptureAssistant crashes, FCP is still beachballing.

BTW, I can reproduce the issue without showing the clip preview screenshots of the timeline too.
