If you have photos in photo stream, they will be an album titled Photo Stream in the photos app. Bear in mind if these are photos that you took on that device, you will NOT lose them when photo stream shuts down. The photos will remain on the device on which they were taken so if you took the photos with your phone, they will remain on the phone when photo stream shuts down. You don’t have to do anything.

If you want to check if you even have Photo Stream go to Settings >Photos. If you do not see My Photo Stream, you never had it. If the option is there but turned off, you weren’t using it .

If you were using My Photo Stream, about the only thing you'd have left in it now are pictures taken between June 24, 2023 and June 26, 2023.

  • My Photo Stream only keeps photos for 30 days, so photos taken before June 24 would have been deleted even if Apple was not shutting down the service for good.
  • Apple stopped uploading new photos to My Photo Stream late last month – so that by the time they do the final shutdown on July 26, 2023, any photo that made it in before uploads stopped would have hit the 30 day limit – and been removed from My Photo Stream anyway.

You can save copies of those final couple of days worth of uploaded pictures – if you act quickly (the longer you wait, the more of the remaining photos will time out).

But you should still have copies of your photos on the original device that took them, unless you made the mistake of treating My Photo Stream as permanent storage (it never was), and deleted your original copies.
