Every iPhone text I send and receive is green

I have tried making sure that the iMessage was on and all the controls were where they should be as far as I can tell they’re fine but everyone keeps asking me why my text is green

Here are a couple of things to try:

Go to Settings > Cellular, and make sure Cellular Data is turned on.
Go to Settings > Messages, and toggle iMessage off then back on
Go to Setting > Messages > Send & Receive, and verify the information is correct for receiving and starting conversations.

You need to be communicating with other Apple users. Both you and they need to be connected to the Internet.
