Are USB wall outlets as fast as Apple charging blocks?

I currently have a standard USB wall receptacle for charging iPads/iPhones but some people have said they don't charge as quickly as when using the Apple charging block (USB adapter).

Now that all of our devices have USB-C fast chargers I am thinking of updating the receptacle to one with USB-C as well, but has anyone noticed any difference in performance, and is there a specific brand that might be better? Amazon has a lot to choose from.
