M1 macbook not recognizing 4th Gen ipod shuffle

I am on Mac OS Venutra version 13.5 and my 4th gen ipod shuffle is not recognized - I remember it was working fine till recently

MacBook Pro 13″, OS X 10.11

ipod shuffle 4th gen and M2 Macbook Air Hi - When I plug my ipod shuffle 4th gen into my new M2 MacBook Air it shows in Finder and is mounted in Disk Utility. But when I click on it in Finder so that I can change the music that is synched onto the ipod, the word Loading ... and a spinning wheel display for about three minutes and then it says "The selected device could not be found." I have tried turning the ipod on and off; upgrading the MacBook to 13.0.1; turning the MacBook off and on. Any suggestions please?
