Trying to update Ultra Watch to watchOS 9.6- stuck on "Preparing"

I’ve got the same problem with WatchOS 10.4 it keeps preparing. This is happening from this morning at 6:00 am. Any help ? Thanks 🙏🏻

After repeating the delete/restart steps above four or five times with no luck 😤
Starting the update process from the watch was the answer [for me].
Finally updated successfully thanks.
Tried the re-pairing but cannot get past needing update on iPhone. Then try to update and gets stuck in preparing.
I tried this. It still didn't fix my issue. :(
How long did it take? I left my phone and watch for hours... no luck!

Tried all methods on this thread and still stuck in "preparing".
Was on the phone with tech support for two hours tonight and they couldn’t figure it out. And my watch battery is draining in the meantime.

I did that too -- put both on charger, made sure both were 100% charged, just got the same old 'preparing' loop.
I had the same problem with IOS 10.4 resiolved by going to apple watch app,general,storage, deleted IOS10.4 file, por both devices. Bingo it worked!
Deleted 10.4 as described, now it says it is updating to 10.5....which has been sitting "Estimating time remaining...." for 10 minutes now!!!!!!!!!
I have tried all the above suggestions with no luck. The only thing that did work was that I was able to get rid of the old screen that was stuck showing still in progress. I was able to start fresh only to get right back to same problem as before? Software glitch. I notice that the watch is not even communicating with the phone which in previous updates you could see this happening.
I am replying to my own comment above! After several attempts and following Apples Support how to get this working I did get my watch update to work. The trick was to manually turn off both the phone and then the watch. Prior to that I did end up deleting the old update and restart the update only to get stuck in the same place. I am very happy now that everything worked out. I am very happy with my Apple devices and their support.
