Mouse scrolling goes random.

Not sure why but I brought a new mouse and it works well with other devices when I use it on my macbook air mid 2013 the scrolling is weird, when I scroll up it would scroll up but also down randomly, same goes to scrolling down. No issues on the macbook itself so I am confused.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.7

Hello Potatohead26,

A good way to isolate this issue further would be to test another mouse with the MacBook Air. This may tell you if this happens with all connected accessories or only this specific mouse. If it's specific to the mouse, then you've isolated the issue to happening with that mouse only. Using another mouse would resolve the issue.

You can use this, if the mouse is Bluetooth: Use Bluetooth devices with Mac

It may also be related to your mouse settings on the Mac, since it sounds like you normally use the built-in Trackpad. Check your settings with these steps: Change mouse tracking, double-click, and scrolling speed on Mac

Hoping this helps out.

Take care.
