Hello My battery won't charge. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot?

I've had my Macbook Pro plugged in for hours yet the battery keeps loosing power. It's now at 9%. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot? I checking the battery in the systems preferences and it says it's normal.

Check the remaining capacity on the battery. If it's 80% or less, Apple recommends you replace it.

If it's greater than 80% you should consider the battery may be defective. Or it could be the charger. How old are they both and have you had any other problems?

You can run diagnostic yourself and check your hardware: Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac - Apple Support

If That turns up nothing, you need to have Apple evaluate it hands -on.

coconutBattery is an excellent 3rd party app for examining your batter in great detail. It's free and safe.

Hello Jeffsamm, Have you checked the outlet itself? Perhaps your outlet is on a GFCI that has tripped. (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter). Your Outlet may look like a plain one, but is connected to a GFCI outlet somewhere in your home. If that is not it maybe try another power supply to charge your MAC. If still not able to charge maybe have Apple Support take a look at your MAC.
