I have a iPhone 14 on 16.6. Please tell me I can turn on NFC reading while in airplane mode. I bought a bunch of NFC tags to do automations around my house, but will be useless because I leave phone in airplane mode at home. Please fix Apple or let me know what I’m missing.

There is nothing to fix, airplane mode shuts off outgoing radio signals. NFC needs to send out radio signals for two way communication with the other device.
Why do you have airplane mode on at your house?
I need this as well. Just the NFC "read" functionality while in airplane mode for basic in house-tag-automation.
I don't need NFC "send" functionality.
In Shortcuts app, NFC read is clearly functional while in airplane mode. Why it is not functioning elsewhere in airplane mode.
No one here in this user to user forum can answer why Apple set it up this way.
