Starting a new iPhone -- 14

I'd like to restart the transfer process as the storage size on the old phone is larger than the apparent size of the new phone. I recall doing this once before on another phone, but I don't remember the process and the only entry I can find is dated 2013!

You have to erase the phone in order to start over.

Erase iPhone - Apple Support


Use Settings to erase iPhone

  1. Go to Settings  > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Prepare your content and settings to transfer to a new iPhone: Tap Get Started, then follow the onscreen instructions. When you finish, return to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone, then tap Erase All Content and Settings.
    • Erase all of your data from iPhone: Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
