How to edit auto fill drop down on iPhone?

Whenever I go to fill in a form, using auto fill, I get a drop-down the top one says “custom” and it has iPhone, home address, work address, email etc. The next one on the list says “home” and has the same information but no work address. There’s a couple others in the drop down that aren’t important right now. The problem is that top one that says “Custom” has a work address that I haven’t worked at for five years. But somehow Apple seems to think that I want this address to be the first one they fill. Even though both my home and work address are there in this custom setting, Apple always chooses the work address. I have followed everybody’s instructions here on trying to fix auto fill. I’ve gone in and I’ve looked at my contact, but the work address was not on it, so I don’t know where apple is pulling that address from. I deleted my contact card refilled it just in case there was some ghost, I don’t know. Still happens. I checked Apple Maps, Google maps, Waze. I looked everywhere I could think of and my work address was nowhere to be found. I have no idea where this “Custom“ Setting is or where that old work address is. Please help me get rid of it. Since it’s the top one and sometimes if I’m going fast I haven’t noticed. Although now that I am incensed about it, I do notice, but I want it gone. I can’t find any place in my phone where that work address is stored other than this drop-down menu that says “custom” and I can’t get rid of it. I don’t ever remember making any custom auto fill, and I don’t see any place in the phone to get rid of a custom auto fill.

I wonder if you turn off iCloud syncing for your contacts. Re-edit to make sure the work address is gone (by that I mean even delete and put the same letter back in, whatever gets you to save that contact again).

Then also look under 'settings, contacts, my info' and make sure there's no ghost hiding in there then turn iCloud syncing back on and see if what's on your device writes over what may be out in the cloud. I'm wondering if that's where your ghost is hiding. You keep changing it on your device but iCloud keeps 'fixing' your changes.

I know it's frustrating to chase down ghosts.

you've probably done this, but I was googling and found something that may (or may not) help. Apologies if you've already tried this.

How do I delete autofill address in Safari?

To turn off AutoFill and delete saved information:

Choose Action menu > Preferences and choose AutoFill. (The Action menu is near the upper-right corner of the Safari window, and looks like a gear.) Deselect “Using info from my Address Book card” and “Other forms.” Next to “Other forms,” click Edit.

I followed your suggestion, and then I went and found some website that would prompt me to auto fill, (I did a Google search for sweepstakes since they always want you to fill out you know like your name and address and phone number and email etc.), and that custom with the work address is still there as the top choice. I’m about to throw this phone out the window.

whenever I go to settings, contacts, my info, I see my name, but if I click on it, it just goes to the list of contacts and I scroll down and I can find me and it does have the little me off to the side. If I click on it, it just goes away. It doesn’t actually open the contact. In order to open the contact, I have to go to the Phone button and then click Contacts and then click on me then I can see it and there is no work address listed there. I do see down below 2 linked contacts. One that is just the iCloud contact and then one that has my beginning of my email but if I click on either of those, neither one has an address at all, so this work address doesn’t seem to show up anywhere except when I go to auto fill a form and I click on the auto fill in the first option is custom with the work address. It’s frustrating.

does anybody even know how a custom option ever got created and where do I go to fix it?
