My iPad will not connect to my Mac

The iPad icon flashes on and off in Finder and my iPad emits a tone like it is trying to connect. I do not get a "trust" message to accept.

When I hook up my iPad (6th gen) all updated to my Mac book pro , all it does is ding and flash the trust computer box for a millisecond, When I hook up my iPad (6th gen, all updated)to my MacBook Pro which is running Monterey 12.6.3 i just get dinging and the trust computer box flashes for a millisecond, never staying onscreen for me to accept

If you iPad is not recognised when connected to your computer, try using a different USB port; if your computer has both USB-C and USB Type-A ports, try using the USB Type-A port of the computer.
