icloud photos sync on desktop won't get past password

I toggle on Sync this Mac for iCloud photo sharing, enter my computer's password and the screen goes back to it toggled off. Just looping through this and getting no where

Can't Sync iCloud photos on my MacBook I recently logged out of iCloud in my MacBook and logged in again. I noticed photos were not enabled in iCloud and that I no longer had a photo library. which I had before doing this. I tried to enable iCloud photos, it asks me the password, I put it (and it is right) but nothing happens. The box was supposed to tick blue like the others. Can someone help me sync my iCloud photo's with my MacBook? PS: I don't use time machine

Shared Photos I changed my Apple ID password yesterday and have had some problems getting everything to work as it did before. I can no longer view my Shared Photos on my imac. They show up on my iphone and ipad. All my Shared Albums are there when I check "info" but I only see gray rectangles with a cloud in the lower right corner. My activity shows the activity and comments but not the photos...just gray rectangles. I did try unchecking Shared Photos on my imac and then checking it again. I didn't reset my imac in between though. I can see everything else (Library, Memories, People, etc., also My Albums) just not the Shared Albums. On Photos, preferences, iCloud: I have iCloud Photos checked; Optimize Mac Storage selected; Shared Albums checked. Should I uncheck iCloud Photos? I think it was unchecked before and I checked it after I changed my password.

Syncing iCloud pictures When I go into my Mac settings and go into iCloud it will not let me sync my Mac to my iCloud Photos. What could I do to change this and allow my Mac to let me sync it up?
