Trackpad stopped highlighting

Trackpad stopped highlighting with one finger drag. I restarted the computer and couldn't even enter password. Both keyboard and trackpad were both charged. Had to call Apple help to get back into my computer, and though all is OK for now, trackpad highlighting only works 3 finger drag. I supposed I'll get used to it, but I am very clumsy and slow with 3 fingers. I want one finger drag back. Any ideas?
