Lost Screen Recording

I I recorded an 8 minute video call this morning using the screen recording feature, not Quicktime on my Mac computer. When I ended the screen record it came up in the bottom right of my screen and I clicked the upload button to send it via iMessage to my wife. This opened the iMessage app but as it did, the screen recording disappeared. I have selected for screen recordings to save to my desktop but it's not there. I have checked in the screen recordings library and again it's not there. I experimented and tried another screen recording and done the same again and tried to send it via iMessage and again its disappeared. Does anyone know where this recording may be. I have opened recents and it's not showing there either?

I am currently running macOS Ventura 13.4.1

sorry, but when you interact with the "floating thumbnail", it will a lot of the time cause the recording to be not saved. I haven't seen a good answer about why that happens. instead, I always make sure the recording is saved to my desktop before doing anything with it. and it is also why I always leave "show floating thumbnail" disabled in the recording controls. that way, I don't inadvertently click the floating thumbnail.

So what program did you record the audio? I say reopen the settings in program and see the location (some put in Downloads' folder your user folder!
