after I had finished screen recording on my Mac, I tried to send it to someone via messages and it didn't show up when on messages. when I exited messages the recording was gone. I can't find it in my files anywhere and it isn't in my bin. is there anyway to find it??

first, you can use the keyboard shortcut "shift-command-5" to bring up the recording controls. then choose "options".
and then, in those options, check the "save to" location to see where the recording went.
secondly, do you have "Show Floating Thumbnail" enabled? and did you Interac with it? when active, the recording will temporarily show up on the bottom right of your screen before being saved and moving to the chosen “save to” location. I have seen issues when others (and myself) that when interacting with the "floating thumbnail" it can cause the recording to disappear, never to be found again. that is why I personally ALWAYS leave "show floating thumbnail" disabled.
and sorry, but whenever a recording is interrupted, or not properly saved, it is usually gone.
it is a long shot, but you can try going into Apple Menu > Finder > Go > Go to Folder.
and in the resulting window, type in "~/Library/ScreenRecordings/" without the quotation marks.
but there might not be anything in there.
