Iphone 14 pro not focusing in 3rd party apps

I have always had issues with the camera on my iPhone 14 Pro not focusing in 3rd party apps. Some of the most noticeable times are when I am doing something like trying to use photo math to take a picture of my screen. It's always super blurry, like worse than my old iPhone 8 was. Another time was when I had to do a conference call for work with the back camera, it just would not focus on what I was trying to show.

I know Apple had released an update to try to fix this, so I updated it to the latest IOS, but it still will not focus on the back camera in 3rd party apps. The normal camera app works fine and it is only with the back camera, from works fine.

Hi AlexTheApex,

With your camera only working as expected in the Camera app we recommend reaching out to third-party developers directly for additional assistance. Steps to take for this process can be found here: How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

Contact the developer of an iOS, iPadOS, or watchOS app
1. Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Search for the app, then tap it. If you can't find it, tap the account button  or your photo at the top of the screen, tap Purchased, tap "Not on this [device]," then tap the app.
3. The app's product page appears. Scroll to the Ratings & Reviews section, then tap App Support. If you don't see App Support, make sure that you're signed in with the correct Apple ID.

You can find additional steps to take on your own here: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working - Apple Support

We hope this helps.

Take care!

This is because Photomath automatically uses the main camera, which is engineered to take far away photos and when a photo is taken up close with it, it’s blurry. On the camera app you will also see this, however the app automatically uses the macro camera (ultrawide camera) instead. Photomath doesn’t have the ability to do so but other apps like Snapchat will automatically switch to the macro camera. This is an issue with Photomath’s code not switching lenses.
