apple super drive on Macbook Pro M2
I am trying to connect my old Superdrive from my iMac to a new Macbook Pro.
The drive doesn't even show up when I connect it to my USB hub.

Ditch the hub and get a simple passthrough adapter: USB-A to USB-C. Hubs and docks contain chips and many are just not compatible.
I have this one and works great: USB-C to USB Adapter - Apple

The Apple superDrive draws 900 milliAmps, the maximum a device can claim without resorting to USB Power Delivery Protocol.
Most hubs are ready to supply 500 milliAmps, not nearly enough.
You can see how much power is available and how much is being requested in
menu > About this Mac > (System Report) > USB ...
and look for the exact device you are connecting.
The drive won't show up on the desktop unless it has a disk in it. Did you check that way?
Hi,
If your USB hub is bus powered one, you would need to get self powered USB hub.
