Are you actually referring to a 2010 iPad First Generation? The one without a camera?
If so, then yes, the iPad 1 cannot update beyond iOS 5, which no longer supports the security protocols of the current iTunes Store. It's a 13 year old device at this point.
Even if it could, there's probably no apps left on it for that specific model.
