1st generation air pods reset without knowing who the owner of the air pods were I bought then from the thrift store

I bought a pair of AirPods from the Goodwill and they are charging and when I press the button the light changes colors. They’re the first generation AirPods and I am unaware of the first person to use them was is there anyway that I can reset them without knowing that information?

iPhone 6s, iOS 15

Hello ThEmFmOsT,

To reset your AirPods, follow these steps:

  1. Put both AirPods into the case, and close it.
  2. Wait 30 seconds.
  3. Open the lid of your charging case.
  4. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, while the case is still open, until the status light on the front / inside lid of of the case flashes amber, then white.
  5. Reconnect your AirPods by bringing them close to your iPhone with the lid open.

The setup button is on the back of the case.

Additional comment: If you are seeing a warning that the AirPods belong to someone else and they may be able to see your location when you pair to your iPhone, they are linked to the previous owner's Apple ID. That lock can only be removed by the original owner, and considering where you purchased it is unlikely you will be able to find the original owner.
