Mac Mini M2 Pro Connection to Monitor

Hello,

I've just purchased my first Apple product, the Mac Mini M2 Pro to replace my old windows computer.

I'm really frustrated as I have tried two different USB to Display Port cables and neither of them work; Just bought the Mini and can't even see an image on the monitor (BenQ SW240) yet.

I'm in the UK and am desperate to get a cable that will work so if you know where I can get one that will work really quickly I'd be very appreciative.

I really don't know why some cable don't work when they should do, is it the cable or something I'm doing?

I'm on the verge of taking the Mac back for a refund as I can't see anything from it.

Mac’s don’t do well with inferior DisplayPort or HDMI cables.

You need to get a high quality 8k USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 cable.

Use a dongle-less direct HDM-HDMI cable length 1m or less, should fix.

Any HDMI cable 1m or less. Connect on both sides to HDMI ports only.

I did try one of thos cables but it didn't work; I have ordered another one while I wait for one, recommended by Benq, the maker of my monitor, to arrive from the USA.

I have been recommended this USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter from Apple but not sure how it fits into the cabeling system and don't like the price either?

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide that info and the link. I am up and running thanks to you! I was able to buy the cable you recommended (different brand) locally and it works great. I have never had need for the thunderbolt port before!

hcsitas, have you got a link to the cable you're thinking about as I'm unsure as to what you mean by dongle-less?

I've got three different cables arriving today, one of them being HDMI to HDMI; I'll let you know how it goes.

3M, the shortest I could get at short notice. I know it's not ideal but should still work until I can find a shorter one.

I thought that HDMI cables can be up to 15M long before loosing signal strength?
