I have a MacBook Air 11' bought in 2014 with MacOS Big Sur. Suddenly my hard drive failed. I erased the disk and installed everything from the scrach. Mac installed Maverick (10.9.5), but I can´t upgrade it to Big Sur again, it says there is no updates available and the pc is up to date.

Hi Niel, thank you very much for talking the time to answer. Your suggestion helped me and I installed BigSur correctly.
Reinstalling Mac to Maverick, is not proposing to upgrade to the latest MacOS
