I think I deleted an incoming text accidentally while I was simultaneously swiping/deleting existing text conversations. How can I check to see if I truly deleted an incoming text that I may have wanted but never got to see??

You were looking at Apple's support document about recovering deleted text messages. Please note that Show Recently Deleted will not even appear unless it contains texts......that were deleted less than 30 days ago.
Messages > Edit > Show Recently Deleted
Any messages that you see in Show Recently Deleted can be recovered. If the message(s) that you were looking for does not appear, the message was deleted more than 30 days ago.

In addition to Bob's comments, this option will not appear if you have no messages that were deleted after you updated to iOS 16!

I do not have an option to Show Recently Deleted texts. I have iOS16.6, iphone SE 3rd gen. How can see deleted texts?
