Screen Time: App Download Permissions

Screen Time Problem

I have the ā€œask permissionsā€ enabled on my kids phones when they want to download an app.

But Iā€™m not receiving the requests on my phone. Only my MacBook Air.

Thoughts?

Hi jcsoldier24,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Since ask to buy isn't coming through on your iPhone, we'd recommend checking the settings on the iPhone. The guidance from If Ask to Buy isn't working - Apple Support can help, starting with the following section.

"Things to try first

  1. Make sure that both you and your child have updated to the latest iOS or iPadOS on your iPhone or iPad, and the latest macOS on your Mac.
  2. If you turned on Focus on your device, either turn it off so that you can receive notifications, or check your Focus settings to make sure that you can receive Time Sensitive notifications like Ask to Buy requests.
  3. Try changing the name of your device, and check that you and your child's devices have different names. To see and change the name of a device, go to Settings > General > About > Name."

Also, check that you are using the same Apple ID. The guidance below is from the same article provided above.

"On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

In iOS 16 or iPadOS 16 or later:

  1. Go to Settings > Family.
  2. Tap your name.
  3. Make a note of which Apple ID is listed.
  4. Tap Purchases.
  5. Tap Apple ID for Purchases and make sure that you're signed in with with the same Apple ID that you use for Family Sharing. If not, tap Share using secondary Apple ID and enter the Apple ID and password for that Apple ID.

In iOS 15 or iPadOS 15 or earlier:

  1. Go to Settings, tap your name, then tap Family Sharing.
  2. Tap your name.
  3. Make a note of the Apple ID that you're using.
  4. Go back to Settings.
  5. Tap your name, tap Media & Purchases, then tap View Account.
  6. Make sure that you're using the same Apple ID."

Take care.
