Location updating even when sharing is turned off

Recently I turned my location off in the Find My app and forgot to turn it back on. Even though it wasn’t turned on, it was still occasionally updating my location for the people that I shared it with. I was just wondering why this was happening.

Hi emilee-01,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. This might be due to how you stopped sharing your location. For instance, from the Find My app, you can stop sharing with a certain person or everyone. The following is from Share or stop sharing your location - Apple Support.

"Stop sharing your location using Find My

You can stop sharing your location with a particular person by choosing that person in the People tab, then scrolling down and choosing Stop Sharing My Location. Or you can stop sharing with everyone by turning off Share My Location in the Me tab.

If the Find My app has been deleted from your device, you can turn off Location Services (go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services) to ensure your location isn’t being shared, then download the Find My app from the App Store again."

If you turned off location for everyone as that article mentions but location was still shared, it would be best to reach out to Apple Support for a closer look. You can contact Apple Support from Get Support.

Take care.
