What exactly do you mean by the "system icon"? Do you perhaps mean your disk icon?
If that is the case, all you have to do is go to Finder->Preferences, and check the box to show disks on the Desktop.

Normally the System Folder wouldn't be on the Desktop unless you created an Alias of it and added it.
