/private directory taking 10GB of space

I was Transferring some files to my external hard drive today and noticed that my storage is almost full. so I ran "clean my mac x" space lens and saw that /private is 3rd on the list and It's taking 10gb of space.

are the files temporary? Because I searched on google and saw people that have the same issue but theirs was taking around 4 gb.

can someone explain to me plz?
