macOS Ventura automatic deletion of files bypassing the bin

macOS Ventura (latest update) ... for a while now I have been seeing automatic deletion of any file on my Mac (except for iCloud Drive), instead of them being put into the bin first. How do I prevent this from happening?

CT, thanks for the links. I had already tried some of the suggestions (like the terminal command rm -rf ~/.Trash but each time ran into a permissions issue that the Terminal mentioned ("operation not permitted"). While going through the 4 articles I just decided to check one of the suggestions (app permissions in security settings) and weirdly noticed that Terminal was disabled for "Full disk access" (I don't recall ever doing that myself, is that something that was changed with one of the OS updates?)

Anyway, I enabled Terminal, retried the terminal command with a log-out and log-in and it seems to work now.
